Microstructured cell arrays are obtained by patterning extracellular matrix (ECM) components on a substrate. Cells are subsequently grown on the substrate and stick to the patterned areas. Such high-throughput assays can be used to study cell behaviors in the presence of external stimuli such as drugs, toxins or mechanical stress. With growing interest of these arrays in different fields in cell biology, automated production and parallelized assays will become crucial.
