InnoScan 900 microarray scanner: new publication
A proteome-wide screen for membrane-interactions in intrinsically disordered regions of transmembrane proteins reveals a role in disease
In this article, we learn more about how high-density peptide arrays can be utilized to map membrane-binding sites in unstructured intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of human transmembrane proteins. An array with over 200,000 unique peptides was incubated with carbocyanine dye labeled liposomes and scanned with InnoScan 900 microarray scanner. 2247 membrane-binding regions have been identified. This research demonstrates that membrane-interaction motifs can influence subcellular localization and may contribute to both physiological and pathological processes. The resulting database, MemRIDRdb, serves as a valuable tool for the scientific community.
