InnoQuant slide scanner: new publication
This preprint identifies Hmgcs1, a key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, as an important regulator of spinal cord repair. Hmgcs1 expression decreases in astrocytes after spinal cord injury, reaching its lowest level at day 7. Its overexpression enhances astrocyte cholesterol production and promotes remyelination, axonal regeneration and motor recovery in rats. Transcriptomic analyses further identify Nrp1 as a potential downstream mediator of the Hmgcs1–cholesterol pathway in astrocyte–neuron crosstalk, although its precise mechanistic role remains to be established.
The InnoQuant slide scanner enabled confocal fluorescence imaging of entire longitudinal spinal cord sections, supporting the visualization and quantitative assessment of myelin preservation and tissue repair following Hmgcs1 modulation.
